Homeschooling Program

Open to all homeschool students grade K-5. 

​

Horizon Charter School vouchers accepted. Use code horizoncharter to RSVP now and submit your voucher at the door. 

​

Parents drop off children at The Square, 196 Wool Street, 10 minutes prior to start time to complete paperwork. 

​

We ask parents to stay within the general local area in case of emergencies. 

​

Programs will take place rain or shine. Please dress for weather and mess.

Exploring Celebrations

Grades K-1

​

Discover celebrations of past and present, celebrated by different cultures in our region. Map where in the world these customs began and place them on an annual timeline to see when they are observed. Through traditional tales, arts, and décor, three festivities are highlighted. Students take home their art, map, and timeline to share with their families.

Working the Land

Grades 2-3

​

What features play into where people settle and how they live? Through this investigation, students discover the importance of resources. Using maps and tools, students stake a claim in the gold fields, find a spot to farm the land, and choose a site to build a hotel for travelers. Students leave with gold panning finds, a starter garden, and a plan for their town.

Investigating the Source

Grades 4-5

​

Become a history detective. Reconstruct the stories of the Pony Express and transcontinental railroad through photographs and other historical sources. Learn to question what the source is and its value, a skill all historians need. Students take home a journal of their findings and a new perspective on how history is uncovered.

Making and Creating

Grades K-5

Get imaginative in our workshop space experiencing methods from both past and present. Using different materials, application of processes, and a variety of tools, participants experience a variety of unique art forms and the history behind them. Students take home all projects, either as keepsakes for themselves or to gift to others.
